I have had a busy few weeks. I had to get neutered which I wasn't too happy about but I made it through and it wasn't too bad. This week I started my heartworm treatment to get rid of the nasty adult worms living in my heart. I had to stay overnight at the hospital but the staff was very nice. I am happy to be back in my foster home and have been resting comfortably in my crate per doctors orders. My activity and exercise will need to be restricted but that's ok as long as I get to be with my foster family. I have a recheck appointment with the nice doctor on August 27th for my final treatment. If all goes well I will be ready for adoption August 30th. Thanks for everyone's kind words and support. I am looking forward to meeting my furever family soon!

Zip "the wonder dog" is settling into his foster home. As you can see in the pictures he's making himself right at home. He has been to the vet twice now, poor guy is on three medications. Everyone at the vet office fell in love with him. He takes his medications very well. His manners with other dogs are improving so he has been allowed to be out with the other dogs for short periods. He still gets a little too excited when he sees the family cat. Today he went to a grooming salon to get a bath. He is so used to riding in the car now he jumps right in. He greeted everyone at the salon happily. He was a very good boy for his bath. We call him "the wonder dog" because we wonder how he has survived up until now, and how he can be so forgiving of humans. He won't be able to start his Heartworm treatment until August so check back then for more updates. We hope this sweet guy will find the loving forever home he deserves.

Hi! My name is Zip. I was found in rural Missouri chained to a tree and very emaciated. The nice lady who saved me could not keep me, so she turned me over to MWBCR to find my new forever home. Unfortunately as I was not cared for very well before she found me, I am positive for Heartworm. My foster mom will be taking me in soon to get rid of those nasty parasites. Once I am finished with my treatment I will be ready for adoption. Until then you can check back here for updates on my progress.

Here is what we have learned about Zip in the short time he has been with us: He LOVES people and is eager to please. He enjoys toys of all types but tends to hoard them to himself rather than playing fetch. He is a little pushy with other dogs, and will try to hump and herd them. He is not good with cats and should not be in a home with small children. Since he has been an outside dog most of his life he is learning MANY new things. He doesn’t care for his crate, but he goes right in and he is getting used to it. He is not house trained but we are working on that. He is used to being bathed and he doesn’t mind being brushed. We are still determining his activity level. He will have to be kept quiet during his heartworm treatment, which will not be easy!
