Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Oscar. It's a pleasure to meet you, as I love attention. Thanks for clicking on my picture!
I am a sweet and loving Senior Pug who is looking for a loving, caring, compassionate home. My foster mom thinks that I'm about 13 years old. I have some special needs that I will need a family who is willing to help me out a bit. Make no mistake though, if you have the time and love for me, I will steal your heart!
I have nerve degeneration in my spine, so I have very little control of my back legs. I still do like to walk around the grass in my yard and find a comfy spot to lay down and sunbathe though. I really like to go out for a walk in my "Walkin Wheels" cart once a day too. I do best with it on smooth surfaces. Most of all though, I like to be held and petted, and to snuggle in bed or on a couch with my human. If kept in a contained area like a puppy pen, I hold my bladder well and wait to be let outside to urinate. I will bark to let you know when I need to go out. Occasionally, I will have #2 accidents in my pen if I'm not taken out soon after eating. Besides barking to go out, I will also let you know when I would like to be fed and given attention. My ideal adopter would be away from home for less than 4 hours at a time. In fact, a "retiree" like myself would be perfect, as long as you can carry me around with you.
I'm a bit different than most NBS dogs. I came in as a senior from a shelter, and because of my age and condition, the vets would prefer not to neuter me at this point. I do have all my vaccines and am heartworm negative though. I don't have lots of chompers left, so I have to eat canned food, and it is easiest for me to eat the "chunks in gravy" type. If you think you might have the heart and time to give and old fella like me the care I need, please email my rescue for more information or visit www.nbsar.org to fill out an adoption application.
