My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Summer is a great dog, truly. She is so sweet and pretty. Summer loves to be outside and she enjoys going for walks! Summer gets along great with other dogs, even though she may bark a little. I've been using "be nice" as a command to stop barking. She knows sit, lay down, stay and I use "come here" to come. She is treat and toy driven. She likes to play with squeaky toys the most! She doesn't beg either. Summer is crate trained and no barking or whining persists. She is still skittish of loud noises- and sometimes basic noises like the dryer, AC unit or a door shutting. All in all she is an extremely big cuddler, may grace you with a lick and doesn't over do it. I let her sleep in my bed with me and she will lay her head right on your shoulder to fall asleep if you let her. She is also quiet and calm. She will bark especially at men. She is not a big fan of loud men in particular. I have been exposing her to as many men as possible in order to help ease her fears. Her hair may stand up as she barks at them but after some time, say 10 min, she will calm down. Summer would benefit greatly from obedience training to help you form a bond and to help her gain confidence.
If interested in adopting, please visit www.masrescue.org and click on "Adopt Here". The adoption fee is $250.00. Please Note: 100% of all the adoption fees collected are used to care for the animals, and pay our ever increasing vet bill. We appreciate your interest in adopting from a rescue organization. We understand the desire to meet our "cuties" as soon as possible, but because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit visitation to approved applicants only. Once your completed application is submitted by you and approved by MASR, we will be glad to schedule your visit. This dog has been examined by our vet, spayed or neutered (if not previously done), vaccinations updated, heartworm negative, and has been microchipped. Breed Selection is 'Best Efforts' given by shelter staff, veterinarians and rescue volunteers. NO guarantees are implied. Dogs benefit greatly from Obedience Training - and we encourage you to check out http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/ . They offer a great discount for training of dogs coming from MAS Rescue! Please note that small breeds are not well designed for families with young children as everything about them is more delicate and will require careful handling. Remember adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of your new furry friend; dogs could live 15 years or more!!
