Why Choose me?

Update 7/23: Patricia Hall of Bone-a-Fide Dog Training has this to say about Steve: “Steve loves people but can be selective about his dog friends. As of now, he only prefers girl dogs but this can change since he has been recently neutered. He loves to play and runs around with a big smile on his face. He shows no food aggression.”

Update 7/22: Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Steve has been neutered and is up to date on his vaccinations!

Update 7/21/15: Cleo and Steve are getting lucky! Cleo and Steve are both great pups - friendly to all, happy, but for some reason they haven't gotten any adoption or rescue attention. So they're headed to the clinic today to get altered & brought up to date on their vaccinations thanks to your donations to the Athenspets Spay/Neuter Fund! (They have both previously tested negative for heartworms.)

Steve is a riot! He is a handsome chocolate lab mix guy and looks so serious most of the time, but all he needs is a squeaky ball to become a big, pouncing cat. He's housetrained and social, so being locked up is hard for him, but we're hopeful that he will find a forever or foster home soon. He has $200 for sponsorship. tinyurl.com/adoptsteve; video @tinyurl.com/vidsteve.
Update 7/13/15: Check out this video of Steven enjoying a squeaky toy! https://youtu.be/YBI2h7Rrcks

Update 6/26: Steve has tested negative for heartworms!

Update 6/16: Today I learned that Steve is great with children. Steve was found by a family with lots of kids. The family took him in for the night until they could bring Steve to the pound. The children gave Steve his name, played with him, and removed all the ticks that he was covered with. He was a good boy as they removed the ticks, and I’m sure that he not only felt better but also enjoyed the attention.

6/15: Steve was shy about coming out of his kennel, but his shyness slipped away when I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk. He wasn’t certain about his new surroundings, but walks were something he was familiar with. Steve led the way to the interaction pen wagging his tail and stopping at other pens to say hello to other dogs. He loves treats and was soon hopping up on the picnic table and sitting for them. He’s a handsome, sweet boy with a big smile and a gorgeous dark chocolate coat. He liked being petted and even had some kisses to share. Steve is a good-natured boy who’d love to spend an afternoon with you.
