Richie's Story...
Richie is a one year old pittie mix who was found as a stray in the Forest Preserve! No one wanted him - but ACL did! Richie is a sweet, good-natured, affectionate young boy who loves to go for walks and play with other dogs. He's so happy on his leash that he prances! Richie is puppyish and fun - he likes to play with toys, and if he can't find one, he'll use a stick! He's gentle and very tolerant of handling, which means Richie would be a great addition to a home with children or another active dog. After his wilderness adventure, we can't wait to find this boy a permanent home where he can be loved for life.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Richie, a Oak Park Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Oak Park, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Oak Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
