Stella's Story...
Surrendered to a high-kill shelter over the July 4th weekend for being “too old,” gentle Stella was almost immediately scooped up by Senior Dog Haven. She is not too old for us: spayed and with a clean bill of health, Stella is already ready for her forever home.

At 40lbs, Stella is a Lab mix who is friendly with everyone. She is currently in a home with two large dogs and a Chihuahua, and fit in immediately. Stella was deeply traumatized by being left by her family along with her brief time at the shelter, and in her foster home, she is quickly learning that she is both safe and loved. She enjoys short walks around the neighborhood, sniffing around her back yard and chewing on bully sticks.

If you would like more information on Stella or would like to adopt her, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. Thanks for visiting with Stella!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Stella, a Wilmington Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
