My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello friends! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Gia and I am a 3 year old spayed female Chihuahua mix with what the doggy doctor thinks is Chinese Crested Powderpuff. Whatever my mix is, one thing is for sure - I'm 100% adorable!! :-) I was found wandering the streets in the Monroe area and the awesome folks at NBS Animal Rescue came and saved me from the shelter!

I am a sweet little lady who is looking for a calm and gentle home where I will be loved and given lots of attention. Although I really love snuggling with people I know, new people, loud noises, and fast movements scare me so I'm really looking for a calm and quiet home. I weigh about 4.5 lbs, so I'm pretty petite and as such am looking for a home without small children or large and hyper dogs who might accidentally hurt me. I am doing well with understanding this whole potty outside thing as long as you take me out regularly. I enjoy the company of other small mellow dogs, have not yet really met a cat before, but I think we could live together and be friends. I enjoy sitting on your lap and having my ears scratched and my belly rubbed. Rolling outside in the grass and sunning myself are also two of my favorite things to do - do you like to sit on your patio??? I could be your snuggle buddy on a nice day!

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Calm and quiet home with low activity.
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
-Children must be 12 yrs or older

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
