Hello! Thank-you for clicking on my picture! Please let me tell you a little bit more about my 12 pound 2 yr old self so that we can get to know each other better.
My name is Sheila and I have a rather sad story that thankfully has been MUCH better lately since the kind folks at NBS Animal Rescue opened their hearts and home to me. You see, I was found by a kind mailman who was walking on his route one day and saw something move next to the wall of a supermarket. He stopped to investigate and found my little body frozen to the ground covered in fleas and snow and ice. He gently wrapped me up in his arms and took me to a family on his route that he knew were dog lovers and they contacted the awesome people at NBS Animal Rescue to help me.
I got several nice warm baths, some medication to get rid of my nasty fleas, and they held me gently in their arms and pet me while telling me that everything was going to be OK. I went and visited the doggy doctor and just last week I had surgery to get spayed and to have my Cherry Eye fixed. I came through the surgery with flying colors and the doggy doctor says I'm as good as new!
I'm a very shy and nervous gal in new situations who needs a calm and loving home who is gentle and has lots of patience. I need a home with a fenced yard, no kids please, another small mellow dog would be nice to keep my company, and a family who was home often. Sudden movements really scare me until I get to know you - so I need someone who is very very patient and will let me come to them in my own time without chasing me or trying to scoop me up quickly. Once I'm comfortable in my new home I LOVE TO PLAY!! I love toys, squeaky toys, stuffed animals, tennis balls, I love to run and bounce across the room to chase after toys! Give me a little time and show me some gentle kindness and I'll melt in your arms. I didn't have the best experiences with humans in the past - but I'm really looking forward to meeting the perfect family who will love me and help me learn how to trust again. Could it be with you?
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, De-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food.
You can fill out a simple online adoption application at www.nbsar.org and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on it's vaccinations and heartworm preventative as well as spayed/neutered unless there is a documented medical reason on file with your veterinarian. Dogs must be current on DHLPP, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative, cats must be current on Distemper, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative at the time of application.
