My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It's a long, sordid story, but Mr. Spaghetti-O was taken to the emergency vet and abandoned by his owner. Enter Beagle Rescue...

Spaghetti (a name bestowed upon him by a vet tech) is a typical puppy in many ways. He "mouths," making him a less than perfect candidate for those with small children. He is curious, full of energy, and just beginning to learn the proper place to do his business.

Unfortunately, Spaghetti was not very well socialized in his former home. He is very hand-shy, ducking away at any effort to pat his head.

This little guy made great strides in the few days he spent at the vet. He became friendly, playful, and quite social (though still ducking), taking a particular liking to one of the vet techs and crying when she left the room. He was fearful of toys at first, but within a day began to have fun with them. When our volunteer picked him up from the vet to transport him to his foster home, this hand shy little cutie was licking her face before the ride was through. And as far as socialization, his new foster home is rife with dogs, rabbits and children, so we're guessing he'll get the hang of things rather quickly.

Regardless, his forever family will need patience to help this little guy overcome his past. He is a work in progress (aren't we all?).

Because of the noise and activity level of a pup this young, we will not place him in an apartment or condo. We expect him to live to at least 14 or 15 years of age, and he deserves no less than a lifetime commitment.

Adoptive Status: Will be neutered, UTD on shots within two weeks after the posted date.
Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Spaghetti needs a home with patience as he learns manners. Being a scent hound, he will also need either a securely fenced yard or someone committed to leashing him up Every Single Time you go outside.
Owner Aptitude Level: Experienced dog owners would be preferable.
