Brandy's Story...
Brandy is about 18 months old and already has had a rough life. In May she was hit by a car and taken to an animal shelter where she was moments away from being euthanized had she not been pulled by a rescue. Thanks to DAN, Doberman Assistance Network, she had FHO surgery in June to repair her left hip. That’s femoral head osteotomy (also called ostectomy): surgical removal of the head and neck of the femur. In other words, removal of the “ball” part of the ball and socket that makes up the hip joint.

Once the femoral head and neck are removed, the head of the femur is not replaced as with most other hip surgeries; the surrounding muscles and developing scar tissue work to support the area and act as a false joint. This means that now when the limb is moved, the forces are transferred to the pelvis rather than the leg itself. FHO surgery requires no implants. The procedure causes the leg to be slightly shorter than the unaffected leg, although amazingly, most dogs return to close to normal activity after the surgery.

Thankfully, Brandy has recovered completely. She is able to run and play just as any other dog. Brandy is a sweet girl who gets along great with kids and other dogs and loves to snuggle. She seems curious about cats but tolerates them.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Brandy, a Las Vegas Doberman Pinscher dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Doberman Pinscher for sale in Las Vegas, or seeking a Doberman Pinscher dog from a breeder in Las Vegas.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Las Vegas already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Las Vegas breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Doberman Pinscher breeders who help with Doberman Pinscher rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Las Vegas paves the way for another one to be saved.
