(This is a courtesy listing for a cat who is not at the Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary.) We are looking for a home for Emmy, a cute, young adult cat who tested positive for exposure to FIV, an immune-deficiency condition that can only be transmitted via sex or deep bite wounds to other cats (not humans, dogs, etc.) -- and with proper care and nutrition, many FIV-positive cats live long, healthy lives. Emmy is in a foster home with a family that has been patient enough to let her transform from a super-scared, always hiding, cat about a year ago into an affectionate kitty with her human family. Emmy also gets along well with children, dogs and other cats. One cat in the foster home used to pick on her, but Emmy never fought back. She is such a gentle soul! The foster mom makes sure those two remain separate, but the other cats love and play with Emmy. She is spayed, up-to-date on her shots, de-flea'd, de-wormed, etc., and loves to play with cat toys. We're trying to help find Emmy a loving permanent home, because her foster family can't keep her permanently. If you can adopt Emmy, or have any questions about her, you are welcome to call Doreen at 440.759-0076.

About Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary

About Our Shelter...

The mission of the Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary is to provide loving, life-long care and support to abandoned, neglected, abused, and orphaned cats, regardless of age or physical condition. We provide or arrange for: shots, spaying/neutering and other veterinary care ; food, water and shelter; adoptions; and follow-up adoption support . If the cats are not adopted, they are still cared for and loved for the rest of their lives.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We arrange for potential adoptions by appointment at the shelter, because the sanctuary's founder & director Jeanne Bones has to supplement the facility's income by doing "pet sitting " work (cleaning, feeding, etc.) at people's homes. We sometimes do adoption events elsewhere, but we mostly publicize our adoptable cats via pet-oriented websites.

Our Adoption Process...

Fees usually range from $50-$65 (which also covers altering, shots, testing, etc.). We have people fill out a form that is both an adoption application and agreement. (There is no fee for just applying.) We ask for the adopter's name, address, work and home (and cell) phone numbers, their vet 's name and number, number and ages of children and/or other pets, and the names and phone numbers of at least two personal references. To protect the cat...If the adoption doesn't work out, we give a full refund if the cat is returned to us, even if a lot of time has passed since the date of the adoption.
