My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Cattle Dog
Age: Approx. 5 Years
Weight: 45 Pounds
Good with dogs: Picks and chooses
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Yes
Energy Level: High

Archer is a Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix so he truly is a working dog. Working dogs like Archer, without being given the proper guidance and outlet for their energy, will almost always create mischief. Archer will need an active owner who has experience with cattle dogs. Because of Archer's breed and intelligence he is a highly trainable dog. He is food motivated and driven to please his master. He would be excellent at agility training!

Archer's nickname should be spider dog. When his spidey senses start tingling he can scale a regular fence with ease. He is so agile and athletic that he will need a home with a minimum of 6ft Stockade fenced in yard.

Archer is a great family dog! He is sweet and lovely towards people and children! He loves to lay by the fireplace in the winter time with his human companion. And he absolutely loves to be told that he's a good boy. When you tell him what a good boy he is, he will look up at you, put his ears back, and wag his tail back and forth. He loves praise and is a true people pleaser and companion!

Although Archer would make an amazing family dog, he prefers to be the one and only king in his castle. Archer will need to be the only dog in the home.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella kennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

VETTING NOTE: Double Dog Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.

HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
