My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy" is an absolutely adorable 5-month old male GSD mix puppy who is smart, playful, and loving. Buddy is very friendly with strangers and will surely be a natural with children. He is great with other dogs and just spent a weekend playing at GSRSV's facility playing with two other GSD mix pups, Tyson & Twinkie. Cats are an unknown, but I will consider a home w/ cats for Buddy.

Buddy is already housetrained and is hardly destructive at all inside the house. He will chew on items that are lying on the floor, but has yet to chew on any furniture in his foster home! He sleeps calmly inside a crate without putting up a fuss, but is otherwise left loose in the house. He is pretty distracted on leash, going this way and that, but is improving every day.

Buddy just recently lost the last of his puppy teeth (the week of July 6-12), so he's surely not more than 5 months old. Yet he is already quite large and his paws suggest that he has lots more growing to do! Buddy has amber eyes and very soft fur, suggesting a mix with a Nordic breed such as a Malamute or Husky.

Buddy's story is quite bizarre. He was left tied up in the backyard of a rental house in South Sacramento when his owner moved out. A neighbor saw him tied up in the yard, and rather than bringing him to a shelter, turned him loose in the neighborhood. Another neighbor took him in, but couldn't keep him, so brought him to a neighbor (Anne) who loves dogs. Anne contacted GSRSV on 6-25 requesting assistance in rehoming Buddy, as she was just about ready to give birth to a baby. Fortunately, a foster home opened up on July 1, the day before Anne delivered her baby, and GSRSV picked up Buddy and brought him to the foster home.

Buddy is located in Natomas. He is not yet neutered, but will be by the end of July. His adoption fee, which will include a microchip, is $300.
