My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willow came to us from Hernando County Animal Services where she was on the euthansia list. She came in after being found as a stray with 2 male dogs she was clearly related to. Sadly, the males were "broken" and deemed unadoptable by the shelter. Willow came out of her shell, but she has to warm up to people. Obviously, Willow and her family members were abused. Willow has strange scars extending from the corner of her mouth around to the top of her head around her ears. It almost has a horse bridle and bit look to it. Willow has had litters of pups in her past, but she is spayed now and pups will not be in her future. Willow has her vaccinations and is on heartworm prevention. In the shelter where she was a staff favorite because she overcame the odds of being euthanized due to unadoptable behavior, she did not always get along with female kennel neighbors. She is currently around German Shepherds and a large male mixed breed dog in her foster home and does not seem to have an issues. The foster home does not have kids or cats. Willow likes to be in the home rather than outside. She is crate trained, but it is not necessary. Willow is very bright and can escape by jumping or climbing the play yard fence, but she runs directly to the back porch and waits patiently for her foster Mom to return home from errands. She is looking for a home to have a second chance in life. Willow is not high energy. She would do well in a home where the adopter is around a lot to make her feel loved. Contact info@arfn.org if you have any specific questions about Willow.

ARF'N accepts applications from people between the ages of 21 and 65. We would consider applications from potential adopters up to age 70 for our senior pets. This will be determined on a case by case basis. Active seniors would be considered as foster parents since fostering is a temporary situation.

ARF'N primarily adopts only to residents in the counties surrounding Hernando County in central Florida or within a 60-90 min. drive from the Brooksville/Spring Hill areas. The reason for this is that we personally conduct home visits for each of our rescued pets to ensure they are getting a safe home.

The application can be found here: http://www.arfn.org/adoption-application/

Email questions to: info@arfn.org. We do not have a phone number to reach us.

Our adoption fees for dogs range between $100 and $250. All of our pets come completely vetted (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm tested, on heart worm prevention, and a microchip).

ARF'N is a rescue operated by volunteers with full-time professional jobs during the day. We can't always get back to you immediately. Most of our rescue work happens in the evenings and on the weekends. It can typically take up to two weeks to go from application to adoption. More time is required for pets with multiple applications and during holidays. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. We find the best match between pet and adopter. Please be patient with us through this process. Rude emails will disqualify you from adopting from us.
