My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jeter is the perfect boy! He is a big mush who loves people, kids, and other dogs. He hasn't been around a cat, but we suspect he would be fine with one. Jeter was rescued out of Hernando County Animal Services as a big, adult boy who was overlooked in his small back row kennel. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Jeter is a gentle soul who is looking for love with someone who will care for him for the rest of his life. He does need a person capable of handling a big boy who is over 75 pounds. He thinks he is a lap dog and sleeps in bed with his foster Mom. He even lets his foster sister put show caps on him and take silly pictures. He can play the part of a pitiful boy. He is easy going for his family but is an imposing presence in the home when strangers come to the door. Jeter's adoption fee is $150.

ARF'N accepts applications from people between the ages of 21 and 65. We would consider applications from potential adopters up to age 70 for our senior pets. This will be determined on a case by case basis. Active seniors would be considered as foster parents since fostering is a temporary situation.

ARF'N primarily adopts only to residents in the counties surrounding Hernando County in central Florida or within a 60-90 min. drive from the Brooksville/Spring Hill areas. The reason for this is that we personally conduct home visits for each of our rescued pets to ensure they are getting a safe home.

The application can be found here: http://www.arfn.org/adoption-application/

Email questions to: info@arfn.org. We do not have a phone number to reach us.

Our adoption fees for dogs range between $100 and $250. All of our pets come completely vetted (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm tested, on heart worm prevention, and a microchip).

ARF'N is a rescue operated by volunteers with full-time professional jobs during the day. We can't always get back to you immediately. Most of our rescue work happens in the evenings and on the weekends. It can typically take up to two weeks to go from application to adoption. More time is required for pets with multiple applications and during holidays. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. We find the best match between pet and adopter. Please be patient with us through this process. Rude emails will disqualify you from adopting from us.
