Best pals and they both have a story. Some cats have a past that really needs to be shared because they are EVERYTHING that rescue is about. Mellie and Morris were in the same shelter and each left with different Friends of Rescue volunteers in March. Morris hadn't been there long but Mellie was a different story. She came into the shelter when she was a tiny kitten, less than 2 pounds. She was a staff favorite so they let her stay....and stay...and stay. Unfortunately, the shelter was SO full of kittens that she was never picked and she didn't care! Her life was the shelter cat room and her friends were the other inmates. When we met Mellie, she was 9 months old and had no memory of having lived anywhere else. She needed a helping hand to have a real home. Oddly, she is like a tiny kitten that never grew up. She steals Qtips from the bathroom and bats them around the house. She carries toys around in her mouth like a dog and stashes them in a pile (or gives them a bath in her water bowl). Her behavior with other cats is a joy for a true cat lover to watch -- she side swipes, head butts, touches noses. Honestly, Mellie thinks every cat is her mother, her brother, or her friend. They are all she's ever had. Then she met Morris. He arrived at her foster home (after having been in another foster home) and she pursued him, fascinated. She followed him, hugged him, threw toys at him....till he noticed her! Together, them romp, roll, and play like tiny kittens. They are discovering their childhood all over again. To see them adopted together would be amazing. We'll separate them in order for them each to have a REAL home but seeing them leave together would be so wonderful.
