My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bert is one amazing, resilient dog. He spent 9 years of his life on a 25 lb, 5ft tow chain. He was found laying on the frozen ground when it was 15 degrees outside. He was too weak to get up, and was having seizures. The previous owners said "I fed him a pork chop last week". Burt was underweight and was being fed twice a week. He didn't have water. He still is learning that now that he's rescued, he will always have water! Another rescue said they would pay to have him humanely euthanized and thankfully, we were called about his son, Ernie, to see if we could take him. When we found out more about the situation, and heard about Bert, we refused for him to be taken to be euthanized without an exam. We sure are glad cause Bert is going strong! Here, we thought he was dying, but give him some water, food, and a warm house, and he perks up! He does have a hypothyroid, so he is currently taking pills, but other than that, he had a clean bill of health! Bert is loving the luxuries of indoor life, and wasted no tie getting familiar with them. He loves to be cuddled and kissed, he likes sleeping in bed, cuddling on the couch, going for car rides, and enjoying treats when he is a good boy! Burt has quickly became a favorite here. You can't help but to look at his weathered body, and just hug him until he falls asleep.
