My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blaze is a chunky-monkey Chihuahua whose compact size is deceptive. When you pick him up you expect him to be light as a feather, but he is a solid eight-pound boy. Blaze does not mind being picked up and held, but really he has places to go and trouble to get into! He can sometimes be timid, and he will tease you about whether he is coming over to say hello. Once you win him over with a squeaky toy or a treat, though, he will be your best buddy. Blaze is four years old and he enjoys the company of other dogs, but he will probably do best in a home with older or no kids. His tail never stops wagging and he will provide you with lots of entertainment. His new human will need to be patient and consistent about teaching Blaze the rules for an inside dog, but he will reward you with devotion, kisses, and hours and hours of fetch. Blaze has been through his Basic Obedience course, and he is treat-motivated and quick to learn what is being asked. His loyalty and affection for his owner will be such that he might show undesirable behaviors toward strangers. However, the Basic Obedience classes have helped him learn manners and increase his confidence. The adoption fee is $200 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, a free wellness visit with our vet, and 30 days of free pet health insurance. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. We offer a low-cost vaccine clinic on Sundays from 11:00 am-2:30 pm, and a low-cost dental clinic on Wednesdays by appointment. Visit our website at www.homefurgood.org for more information.
