Facts about BLAZE

  • Breed: Chihuahua Mix
  • Color: Brown/Chocolate - With Tan
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
Blaze is a chunky-monkey Chihuahua whose compact size is deceptive. When you pick him up you expect him to be light as a feather, but he is a solid eight-pound boy. Blaze does not mind being picked up and held, but really he has places to go and trouble to get into! He can sometimes be timid, and he will tease you about whether he is coming over to say hello. Once you win him over with a squeaky toy or a treat, though, he will be your best buddy. Blaze is four years old and he enjoys the company of other dogs, but he will probably do best in a home with older or no kids. His tail never stops wagging and he will provide you with lots of entertainment. His new human will need to be patient and consistent about teaching Blaze the rules for an inside dog, but he will reward you with devotion, kisses, and hours and hours of fetch. Blaze has been through his Basic Obedience course, and he is treat-motivated and quick to learn what is being asked. His loyalty and affection for his owner will be such that he might show undesirable behaviors toward strangers. However, the Basic Obedience classes have helped him learn manners and increase his confidence. The adoption fee is $200 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, a free wellness visit with our vet, and 30 days of free pet health insurance. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. We offer a low-cost vaccine clinic on Sundays from 11:00 am-2:30 pm, and a low-cost dental clinic on Wednesdays by appointment. Visit our website at for more information.

About Home Fur Good

About Our Shelter...

Home Fur Good is a non profit no kill animal shelter located in the NE Valley. We take a majority of our cats and dogs from County, many who have treatable medical conditions and would otherwise be put down. We assess physical and behavior and work with the cats/dogs to find the best suitable match. It is our goal that each cat or dog that comes to our shelter ultimately be placed in their "furever" homes.

We also operate a low cost vaccine and microchip clinic each Sunday. We want to help community be able to care for and keep their animals safe. We do not charge vet fee only fee for vaccine and microchip.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do adoptions from shelter every Thursday 11:30am to 3:30 pm and we are at Petsmart Tatum and Shea every weekend; Fri. 1:00 - 6:00, Sat. & Sun. 10:30 - 4:30. Please check our website for more specifics.

Our Adoption Process...

Home Fur Good requires an approved application. We have trained adoption counselors to review and question any potential problems/issues with application. We do require an adoption fee which ranges for dogs $150-$275 and for cats $50-$100. All cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and come with 30 days of pet health insurance.
If another dog or dogs are present in the household we require a meet and greet prior to adoption. All members of the household must be on board with adoption. We do not adopt our rescues out without meeting person that will be responsible - no "gift" adoptions. We contract that if cat/dog must be relinquished they are returned to us. If there is a change of ownership we must be kept informed who responsible party is. Fees are non refundable.
