My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Korie were her expressive eyes shining in the dim shelter light. She stared at Korie for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this gorgeous Poodle/Wheaten (it was the breed mix suggested by Texas vets). These photos definitely doesn't do this striking girl justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the shelter matts and filth is an exceptional white Poodle with hints of apricot in her cottony hair.

Korie immediately made it clear that she's a LOVE! Her adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. Korie was brought out of her cage.. and before you know it, she was in our rescuer's lap. She was shy and a bit frightened (perfectly understandable under the circumstances) but was so happy for the hug and sense of safety. This 18-24 month old, 13.5 lb Poodle truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send her over the moon. Korie wants to be a people dog - with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love, she'll be so overjoyed that she's finally found her forever family.

Korie's Texas foster mom had the following to say about this sweet girl:
Korie is such a fun, very kind and happy girl. I'm a bit biased because she fell in love with me (and even my husband) immediately. I also am thrilled that Korie isn't a vocal girl at all. Even when she's out in the yard surrounded by neighbor's dogs, she's quiet and respectful. I'm not completely sure how Korie is with cats but one of mine darted past and she was initially interested but not aggressive at all.
I was beyond pleasantly surprised to find that Korie is housebroken and non-destructive. I even let her sleep free/uncrated last night and she was absolutely perfect!
Korie can be a bit puppy mouthy when you put your hand straight forward to pet her head. She may lightly chew on your fingers playfully - but never painfully. She just needs some clear and kind direction. Korie really likes to be near me but is never needy.
I forgot to mention that Korie is a ballerina. She twirls on her hind legs when playing with my other 2 bigger dogs...we feel like she could be a utube star!
Korie isn't a big eater and ignored what I offered last night: dry Taste of the Wild kibble mixed with some Wilderness turkey and chicken broth. I think her family is going to have to work with her to determine her specific likes and dislikes.

We're searching for either an adult-only or a home with older children for this very sweet pup. It's not that Korie doesn't like younger children.. but we feel that she may become overwhelmed by rowdiness and very loud voices - therefore a family with very young children will not be considered. We envision Korie with active retirees who want an adorable young dog as a family member and companion. She would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her people. She's quiet and mellow enough to spend her afternoon snoozing on the couch or would be very happy to go for a long walk on mountain trails or neighborhood paths....just as long as she's with her person. She would also be a great office dog in a dog-friendly workplace....she would be well behaved and respectful (as long as she can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer).

Korie can have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in her life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let her know she is loved and will never be abandoned.

Korie, as a Poodle mix is considered one of the top non-shedding, hypoallergenic breeds. She will therefore require periodic grooming as well as great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.

Korie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 7/11/15. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
