found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
To say that Grace is a survivor, would be a major understatement. Grace was found wandering the streets of Memphis by good Samaritan, we'll call her Sam. Sam took Grace, and the two puppies she was with, to an emergency veterinary clinic. The three dogs were starving, and grace had an injury to her paw. Sam wanted to make sure that they could be seen a vet and it was over the weekend.
Sam begin contacting a rescue groups, looking for help to eventually place Grace and the puppies. When she called the emergency clinic, she was horrified to learn that the three dogs had been transferred to the high kill shelter here in Memphis. Sam's rescue efforts kicked into high gear, which is when we met her. We were heartbroken as she told us how devastated she was to hear the dogs were no longer at the vet. We told her we would be happy to meet her at the shelter, and work to try and find foster homes for Grace and her two little sidekicks.
We learned that one of the puppies have been adopted, leaving Grace and one other puppy still at the shelter. We immediately adopted them both, and took them to our vet. Grace's leg injury was related to being shot by a BB gun, the vet cleaned her up and after seeing the X-ray, decided that removing the bb was unnecessary. We also learned that Grace was heartworm positive, and so we began the treatment.
So that's graces history, that was her then, this is her now:
Grace lives with an amazing foster family, her best friend is a Doberman pincher. She likes to sleep in bed with her mom at night, and lounge around during the day, when lounging is allowed. You see Grace's work situation is a unique one. Grace's Foster family runs an in-home daycare. That's right, this big pitbull, who was shot, heartworm positive, and rescued from one of the most notoriously awful shelters in the United States, is, as it turns out, a bit of the nannying type. Grace loves those kids, and they love her right back.
Grace's has completed her heartworm treatment and she is now ready to find her forever home. Her adoption fee is $425 and includes all her vetting (spay surgery, microchip, up to date vaccinations, monthly flea, tick and heartworm prevention), health certificate and transportation from Memphis to your area.
