My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MURPHY is a 6 year old neutered chocolate male Lab that weighs 72 pounds. When you meet Murphy he will probably be showing you his helicopter tail, it always in motion going round and round to show you how happy he is to meet you. His coat has gorgeous highlights when he grows in his new one it will dark chocolate in color. He likes to retrieve but doesn't always bring it back to you. When you scratch his butt he does a very nice two step to show how much he enjoys it. He would love a family that will give him attention and has a fenced yard for him to play in.
Lived with a 3 year girl old but knocked her over as he didn't realize how big he was. Good with other dogs - attended Doggy Day care several times a week. When he was an outside dog a owners were feeding a stray cat for about 6 weeks and he got along well with it. He will chase chickens. Knows some commands. Was house trained then moved outside. Keeping room clean at the kennel. Murpny is approved for kids ages 6+.

Update (9/15): Murphy is just sitting on the sofa with me asking why he doesn't have a forever home? Everyone who comes to see him loves him. They say how wonderful he is. He is house trained, doesn't countersurf and can be left in the house uncrated. What more can you ask for? How about, I LOVE to go for car rides. Every time my FM goes to get the leash, I know she is going to take me for a ride. I am disappointed when we are only going for a walk. Don't get me wrong, I love to go for walks too, but I just LOVE car rides. I love my foster family, but I am waiting for my forever home.

Update (8/04): Murphy is a laid back 6 year old chocolate male. He loves to sleep on the bed, either by himself or with you, it really doesn't matter to him. He likes to go for a walk and walks well on a leash. Going for rides is the best thing to do, the first place he goes, when you take him out, is to the back of the van if he can’t get in there he tries to jump in the pick up. He is a great rider and you don't hear a peep out of him.
Murphy is also musically inclined, he loves to accompany his foster father while he is playing the banjo.
Murphy is used to being with a family and is wondering where his forever family is. Please call your AC and come to see Murphy.

Update (7/19): Murphy is so happy to be part of a family again. He has been with us for a short time and has made himself at home. FM was so happy when Murphy came because he actually has to gain weight. Usually she has to feed green beans because her fosters have to lose weight. He loves for you to pet him and he does his little dance when you scratch his butt. He is house trained and he doesn't countersurf. He is wondering why he had to come to the kennel and just wants a family to love him. Call your AC to come and visit Murphy.

Murphy's story - Talked to old owner who gave him up, he was an inside dog until owner got remarried then moved outside and eventually he went to the shelter as his wife didn't like dogs. The shelter who contacted us to see if we could help him.
Murphy comes from the suburbs and has no exposure to big cities. Placements is limited to single family stand-alone homes in a suburban neighborhood, or rural area.
