Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It seems that everyone loves Poodles and Poodle mixes (they rank in the top 10 of the most popular breeds). We do...especially if they're as sweet and as incredibly loving as Chaz . He was acknowledged at a high-kill Texas shelter for having a great personality and being so wonderful to love on and cuddle. This recognition is a tough feat considering this facility holds up to 450 dogs at almost all times with a very high daily turn-in rate.
Chaz, at about 18 - 24 months old and 11.6 lbs is an exceptionally beautiful Poodle mix. His sad shelter photo shows a dog that had been so matted that prior to his entering the shelter that he had to be shaved to the skin. Matts are extremely painful and we feel like this is the first time that Chaz has been free of their pull. When his non-shedding (Poodles and Maltese are considered to be two of the most hypoallergenic shed-free breeds) coat grows in, it will be cottony-soft with striking shades of chocolate and tan running through it.
You can tell when you look into Chaz's very expressive dark eyes that his short life has held sadness and challenges..but he would never be one to carry that around. Chaz loves people and other dogs and is generally overjoyed with life. While initially a bit shy...give him a moment! Chaz's great energy makes you melt. As he trusts more and more...the love that has always lived inside him emerges and before you know it, this beautiful Schnoodle is in your lap letting you know you are his number one! We can't think of a better or more devoted companion for retirees or a family with very gentle older children.
Chaz would be a kind and respectful family member...he loves his people and desires to behave to the best of his ability. He simply needs to understand what is being asked of him..once he's clear, he truly wants to comply. We think Chaz would be very successful in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. He would naturally bond with his family while learning skills that will make him a well-trained and pleasant member of the community. Chaz desires more than anything to be a long-term best friend who will always be waiting at the door with a happy tail and a kiss of greeting.
Chaz will fit in with a family or individual that enjoys outdoor adventures..he loves the sunshine and would be overjoyed with a fenced yard or a sunny porch. He is more than happy to engage in anything his guardian has in mind ...and smiles with joy at being included. We feel that Chaz would thrive in a family that includes their dog in their lives. We feel strongly that leaving him alone at home for many, many hours wouldn't work for this sensitive guy. We would love a family that would give Chaz the benefit of socialization - Home Depot or similar dog-friendly stores and outdoor malls are great for this. He would truly be a gift to anyone searching for a playful and devoted best friend.
Chaz will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 7/24/15. If interested in this adorable and very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
