Facts about Max

  • Breed: Amazon
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Unknown
  • Sex: Male
MAX is a 22 year old yellow naped Amazon. Like many Amazons, Max was living in small quarters with a less than nutritious diet. Now he Is doing great, enjoying many fresh foods, a larger cage, and interaction time. You can tell by the look in his eyes that life is definitely better! However, like most Amazons, he is clear about who he likes, and who he doesn't. Unfortunately it's hard to meet him because he's in Bristol, TN, where he has been in foster for quite some time. However, he needs to move soon, so if you'd like to audition for his companionship, please let us know!

About Phoenix Landing Foundation Asheville NC

About Our Rescue Group...

The Phoenix Landing Foundation (PL) is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. PL promotes and protects the welfare of parrots, especially those with an extensive lifespan. We provide for parrots of all types in need, and act as advocates for those without protection. Visit our website at for more information. We also sponsor great educational seminars! All are welcome (please do not bring your birds or other pets). Most of PL's classes are free, although of course we always welcome donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

.Most of our birds are being fostered in private homes in the MD, VA, NC, SC, and DC area. Sometimes, we have foster families bring their birds to these events for prospective adopters to meet them.

Our Adoption Process...

We require:
- An Adoption Application
- A brief in-Home Visit with you and your family (for birds larger than a cockatiel)
- Attendance at an Intro class (recommended for all, required for birds larger than a cockatiel). For large birds (macaws, cockatoos, amazons, greys, eclectus, etc.) we also require an Advanced class.
- An Adoption Fee (for birds larger than a cockatiel) -- adoption fees vary, larger birds have higher fees
