Riggs's Story...
One of the most beloved breeds of dogs is the Beagle. They are sweet, loyal, gentle, cute, playful and the list goes on and on. Riggs is in a foster home and his foster family raves about him. They say that he is one of the easiest fosters they have had. He would make anyone a wonderful companion dog. He follows his foster family around the house and is content to lay on a blanket on the couch watching TV with them. Riggs is by far the happiest to see them when they come home from work, even happier to see the family then their own personal dogs. Riggs does wonderfully with the other dogs in the house. Riggs is a joy to take on walks. He is wonderful on his leash.
Riggs is so sweet and really just wants someone to love him and pay him a little attention. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise or work, but the walks are good for him and he enjoys them. He doesn’t play a whole lot with the other dogs, but will play with the other dogs at times. He loves having toys of his own, but doesn’t try to take the other dogs toys.
Riggs is used to having free range of the house when his foster family is gone. He has good house manners and can be trusted not to be kenneled while his family is away. Riggs is in a home with cats and does fairy well with them, although his foster mom reports that the cats like to pick on him. Riggs is approximately 4.5 years old as of June 2015. He is a bigger Beagle mix weighing in at 55 pounds. Riggs came to our rescue when his elderly guardian had health issues and had to be placed in a nursing home. So, now Riggs is on the hunt for another forever family and hope you are the one to give him his happily ever after. Riggs is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you would like to meet Riggs, please complete an adoption application at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riggs, a Evansville Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Evansville, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Evansville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Evansville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Evansville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Evansville paves the way for another one to be saved.
