Tula is 7 years old now living happily in her foster home, where she's a very good girl and loves her foster mom very much.

Tula is a sweet gal, very affectionate and loves her people. She enjoys her dog companions, but strives for the Alpha position in the pack. She seems to do well with children in a sweet mothering way, but is not much for rambunctious play. She enjoys walks, car rides, and roams freely through a dog door to a secure backyard where she really likes playing fetch. Tula is a bit of an anxious girl when left alone. Tula would be happiest in a home in which her people are home more than gone. She will tolerate a crate for a few hours. She might be happiest as an only dog, or one of only two dogs in which she can be the top dog, in a quieter home. In spite of her quirks, Tula is a very sweet, loyal and snuggly dog who would make a great family dog for the right family.

Tula has been doing very well in her foster home and is getting more and more secure and relaxed with every day. Tula is an active girl who loves to be with her people. She LOVES to go for car rides and, while she isn't a huge fan of the crate, she tolerates it for a few hours at a time. Tula does well with other dogs and she thrives when on a regular schedule.

Tula has spent a week in a foster home where she has done very well. She's a very affectionate dog. Unfortunately, we've determined that Tula is not good with cats.

Tula is a sweet, happy girl who lost her home for reasons beyond her control. Tula does well with other dogs and plays well with young children. She's been well taken care of - she's healthy and heartworm negative! Tula has good house manners and is well behaved. She'd make a great family companion!

About Weimaraner Rescue of the South

About Our Rescue Group...

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

Our Adoption Process...

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.
