Suki's Story...
Suki, which means "love" in Japanese, is a 2 year old pure bred Red female Shiba Inu that our rescue pulled along with her puppies from a puppy mill auction in Iowa back in April. Before coming to rescue Suki had never walked on a leash, lived in a home, felt grass or carpet under her feet, played with toys or been petted affectionately. Her purpose in life was one thing--make puppies. While Suki is still fearful, she's starting to make progress and trust people and we'd like to start looking for her forever home.

Suki is crate training and is doing very well with potty training. She loves to hang out outside and would do so all day though we don't recommend ever leaving her outside if no one is home or overnight. I still have to go outside to get Suki as she doesn't come in the house on her own yet but she will come to me and I can pick her up and take her inside.

Suki is starting to come to me for pets and will lick my hand while squinting her eyes, smiling and wagging her tail. She has discovered that she loves any ball and is learning to play. Really watching one of these mill dogs discover the true meaning of life and love is a feeling like no other.

Due to her fears that she is overcoming, Suki would do best in a home without children as she runs from them and barks at them. She also doesn't really walk on a leash yet so no apartments/townhomes/condos unless there is a yard she can do her business in as she won't be able to walk for potty breaks.

Suki's adoption fee of $325 includes her spay, microchip, deworming, distemper and rabies vaccinations and a private in home training session.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Suki, a Loveland Shiba Inu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shiba Inu for sale in Loveland, or seeking a Shiba Inu dog from a breeder in Loveland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Loveland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Loveland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shiba Inu breeders who help with Shiba Inu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Loveland paves the way for another one to be saved.
