My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kira, a handsome young fella who was abandoned by his family and left to fend for himself! A good Samaritan neighbor couldn’t ignore his adorable face and took him in temporarily. He has wonderful house manners and is a champ at using his litter box. He also keeps himself nice and tidy and grooms every day. A bit shy around strangers, he’s incredibly affectionate with his “people” once he knows you’re gonna hang around!

Kira loves watching critters from his perch by the window and basking in the sun is his favorite hobby. When he is not sleeping or critter-watching or grooming his soft-and-shiny coat, he is seeking out his human buddies to play with them or sit right next to them. Kira is a perfect gentleman however and doesn’t disturb his current family when they are sleeping. That said, he will check to make sure they’re okay if they’ve overslept!

Kira is intelligent and independent but also attached and playful. He’s a big fan of the bird feather teaser, and anything that moves like prey. Daily playtime makes him very happy. He also has a scratch pad/pole that he loves.

When it comes to affection, Kira will head butt, rub up against your legs, throw himself on the ground and roll over on his back and knead – all in the name of love. He follows his favorite human around like a duckling. (Adorable alert!) When he’s not playing or looking adorable, sleeping to classical music, or making his own tent-like structures to hide in, he’s showing his sincere gratitude when his humans have just cleaned up his litter box and made it smell good again.

Surprisingly, Kira does not like treats or table scraps at all. He only likes his own food. He’s been eating a high quality chicken wet food, which is what he loves. Occasionally he’ll indulge in some dry food as well.

Kira is not very vocal but will purr to welcome his humans home or say good morning (or that he's bored!). He’s looking for a calm (no loud noises, no hyperactive dogs) but stimulating (a window to sit by and watch critters - birds, squirrels etc.) place to call home. He’d love a human who knows and loves cats in general, will shower him with love and can provide him with healthy food. Probably not a great fit for families with young kids because he really craves gentle play.

Want to meet him? Kira is currently in Santa Clara with his foster family.
