My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Jake and I am a Blue and Gold Macaw – sometimes I am called Jaky because it is believed I am a female. As you can see, I have a history of plucking and my chest is mostly bare, but since I have been in foster care with other birds and lots of distractions like toys and foraging time, some of my chest feathers have begun to grow back. I am comfortable being around other parrots and other species of animals, just remember that I can be fragile and need to be kept safe by you. I mostly enjoy human interaction though – I love one-on-one human attention! My foster Mom says that I am a great eater and I love to have a little of what you are having (just remember that it needs to be parrot safe and healthy!). I also enjoy my diet of healthy pellets, chop, fresh vegetables and fruits, and healthy nuts. My foster Mom says that I am pretty quiet and easy to handle – but I am still a macaw so that doesn’t mean I can’ be vocal from time to time. I really hope that you will come and meet me soon to see if I can become part of your family.
