My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Hope and it fits me perfectly. I’ve had a rough life. I had a home until I was 6 years old but they must have no longer wanted me as I ended up in the county kill shelter after being found as a stray. At my age no one wanted me even though I was a young 6. But the shelter manager soon learned how very sweet I am and asked my foster mom to foster me until there was a spot in the prison program for me. I did very well in the program and learned all my obedience, was house trained, crate trained and socialized with all the other dogs that had the privilege of going thru the program.

Once I graduated I had a home lined up. Life was good for a while. I had a mommy, daddy and 2 kids to love on me. I had a fenced yard and enjoyed hanging out with the cats in the back yard. Then one day my foster mom got a call and my family wanted her to take me back because they were moving. Of course she did as she loves me very much but I was very sad. However, when my foster mom took me to the vet to get my shots, he looked at my teeth and was shocked. All but one of my teeth needed to be pulled. My mouth was so horribly infected. And I had never had any of my annual shots while I was with my family. Foster mom got all that done and now I’m up to date on everything. My mouth is all healed and I can eat dry kibble. I am a typical beagle and love my food.

Because I have no teeth a lot of the time my pretty pink tongue hangs out the side of my mouth but that gives me character and people smile at me and like to stop and pet me. I also had a couple non-cancerous lumps that were removed. I am now a very healthy girl that loves to be petted and loved on. My foster mom thinks I’d make a good pet therapy dog as I go up to everyone I see to get petted. They don’t get any friendlier than me!

I am a beautiful tri color brown with the most amazing eyes. I am a very happy girl and while my foster mom is at work I just sleep on my favorite dog bed. I don’t need to be crated. I’m left alone for 9 hours a day with my foster mom’s other dog and 2 cats. My very favorite part of the day is when we go for our daily walk. My previous family fed me too much and I put on a little weight but we are working on that with premium food and walks. I weigh 32 pounds right now so maybe you can help me lose a couple pounds.

I am approximately 9-10 years old but feel like a young girl. I’m very quiet and seldom bark. My foster mom heard me “talking” in my sleep one night and she said that is the most she has ever heard me bark.

I am amazing in the car and love to go for rides. I just snuggle up and take a nap.

Actually I’m a pretty amazing girl. Won’t you please give me that chance of having a wonderful home with lots of love? I will be your best friend forever.

Hope is being fostered in New Carlisle, OH.
