My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sunny, a fun loving, super sweetheart of a dog. She is 14 months old, weighs about 45 pounds and is a med-high energy Aussie/Border Collie mix. She loves to play tug, ball and frisbee. She gets along extremely well with other dogs and people. She likes to make funny faces When you are talking to her. She knows sit, lay down, easy, leave-it and is learning a solid recall. She comes pretty good to a whistle right now. Sunny likes to chase birds, squirrels and bunnies from the yard and will most likely need a fence. She is looking for someone to love and play tug. She really, really loves tug. She will curl up at the foot of the bed and sleep all night without moving even when you move.

Sunny came to Aussie Rescue from the Pine Ridge Reservation in the beginning of March. She had been hit by a car and her Lakota family didn't have the means necessary to provide her with the care she desperately needed. With broken hearts they surrendered her to LightShine Canine: A Rez Dog Rescue.

Thanks to the fabulous veterinarians at Barrington Oaks and Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital, Sunny had the surgery to repair her badly damaged elbow and has been in rehab at an ARM foster home for the past four months. Now it is time for her to spread her wings and fly.
