My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Diana and I am estimated to be a 2 year old spayed female Poodle who was found as a stray in such bad physical condition that it was really painful for me to even walk. You can see from my pictures that I was a bit of a mess when the kind volunteers at NBSAR found me - I'm so very thankful for all that they have done to help me feel much better!

I've been working hard at putting the past behind me and enjoying the love, affection, TLC, and kindness that my foster parents have been giving me. It's not easy forgetting my horrible past, but I've been trying really hard and have started to trust humans again to take care of me instead of hurting me. I'm still a nervous nelly around new people and in new situations, so I need a home that is quiet and calm with someone who is home often to help be learn how to trust again. While I hear that kids are super fun to have around, their loud noises and quick movements scare me silly so I need a home where there aren't any kids or a lot of new visitors who come over frequently. Once I learn to trust you I quickly become your best friend - my foster mom is my "person" and I love sitting on her lap, having my belly rubbed, and playing with my foster brother once in a while.

My ideal home would have a friendly, mellow, gentle doggy for me to learn from and help show me the ropes in my new environment. I also need a fenced yard as leashes are still pretty scary to me. I am pee pad trained and will use those in the beginning because I'll be too scared to do my business outside. With gentle praise and treats I'm learning quickly.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
- Quiet/Calm home.
- No children in the home.
- 100% fenced in yard.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
