My story

Introducing Ava. Ava is a beautiful one year old Boxer/Retriever mix. She was adopted from Friendship at 3 months old and now returned after being with the family for 9 months. Ava is a dog with lots of energy. Her family didn't work much on her training. She's super friendly but played rough with the young children in the family. Her previous family said did very well with her house-training and likes to ride in cars and play with toys. Active Ava would thrive in a loving home once she's back from her training.

On August 24, 2015, Ava was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. She is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institution. Prison Dogs are trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. She will spend approximately 12 weeks at the prison.

If you are interested in adopting this prison dog, adoption applications are now being accepted. This dog will be returning to Friendship in a few weeks so get your adoption app in ASAP. You can find an app at friendshipapl.org under ADOPT-FIND A FRIEND. Hand deliver the app to Friendship or call if you live a distance away to see if you can fax one in. Please do not email the app.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.
