Facts about Argo

  • Breed: African Grey
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Unknown
  • Sex: Female
Argo is a 17 year old Timneh African Grey. She is interested in human companionship with someone who is calm and quiet, just like her. Argo is learning to appreciate a varied diet that includes healthy fresh foods such as veggies, fruits, and legumes. Her fresh food diet is supplemented with Harrison's pellets and a nut or two as a treat. Argo is also learning to enjoy toys -- this is something her adopter can look forward to working on with her. Are you looking for a quieter parrot to share your life? Argo could be the one for you!

Argo is super duper smart! She needs to have a home where she is provided with mental enrichment and preferably trick training. She knows how to drop things in a bowl, pick things up from one bowl and take them to another, and is learning to put discs into a slot.

Argo loves to give kisses, but don’t try to pick her up, hands are not for her. Argo is a great fresh food eater, and Harrison’s is her pellet of choice.

About Phoenix Landing Foundation Asheville NC

About Our Rescue Group...

The Phoenix Landing Foundation (PL) is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. PL promotes and protects the welfare of parrots, especially those with an extensive lifespan. We provide for parrots of all types in need, and act as advocates for those without protection. Visit our website at for more information. We also sponsor great educational seminars! All are welcome (please do not bring your birds or other pets). Most of PL's classes are free, although of course we always welcome donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

.Most of our birds are being fostered in private homes in the MD, VA, NC, SC, and DC area. Sometimes, we have foster families bring their birds to these events for prospective adopters to meet them.

Our Adoption Process...

We require:
- An Adoption Application
- A brief in-Home Visit with you and your family (for birds larger than a cockatiel)
- Attendance at an Intro class (recommended for all, required for birds larger than a cockatiel). For large birds (macaws, cockatoos, amazons, greys, eclectus, etc.) we also require an Advanced class.
- An Adoption Fee (for birds larger than a cockatiel) -- adoption fees vary, larger birds have higher fees
