Facts about QUORK and BETSY

  • Breed: Macaw
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Unknown
  • Sex: Male
QUORK and BETSY are best buddies. Quork is a scarlet macaw and Betsy is a military macaw. They first came to us in 2004 from a animal control confiscation, so their ages are unknown. They were adopted but returned to us when their adopter got cancer. We take lifetime responsibility for all birds that come to Phoenix Landing. We want them to stay together in their next home.

Most birds are relinquished because people don’t think they can give enough “time and attention.” However, having 2 birds is a way to ensure they have a social life and to take the pressure off of you. You shouldn’t expect to have a hands-on relationship with a pair like Quork and Betsy, however, most birds prefer to interact without a lot of touching. So these 2 are just to be enjoyed, and they are certainly entertaining!

About Phoenix Landing Foundation Asheville NC

About Our Rescue Group...

The Phoenix Landing Foundation (PL) is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. PL promotes and protects the welfare of parrots, especially those with an extensive lifespan. We provide for parrots of all types in need, and act as advocates for those without protection. Visit our website at http://www.phoenixlanding.org for more information. We also sponsor great educational seminars! All are welcome (please do not bring your birds or other pets). Most of PL's classes are free, although of course we always welcome donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

.Most of our birds are being fostered in private homes in the MD, VA, NC, SC, and DC area. Sometimes, we have foster families bring their birds to these events for prospective adopters to meet them.

Our Adoption Process...

We require:
- An Adoption Application
- A brief in-Home Visit with you and your family (for birds larger than a cockatiel)
- Attendance at an Intro class (recommended for all, required for birds larger than a cockatiel). For large birds (macaws, cockatoos, amazons, greys, eclectus, etc.) we also require an Advanced class.
- An Adoption Fee (for birds larger than a cockatiel) -- adoption fees vary, larger birds have higher fees
