Facts about OLLIE & Layla

  • Breed: Macaw
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Unknown
  • Sex: Male
OLLIE is a young 8 year old blue and gold macaw. He likes to be mischievous and loves to play games. One of his favorite is to say “uh oh” and he wants you to say it too - blue and golds have a great sense of humor.
LAYLA is a young 10 year old scarlet macaw. Scarlet macaws are gorgeous! They are also louder than other macaws, so make sure you are prepared to be patient and not respond to this natural behavior in a negative way. Ollie and Layla came from the same home, and we’d like to see them go their next home together. They can share a cage (64” wide minimum, 80” by preference) or have 2 very large cages but spend lots of time out together. Macaws need a high fat diet - and this does not mean french fries and pizza. It means walnuts and Brazil nuts, complemented by lots of fruit, veggies, grains and legumes. Ollie and Layla’s pellet of choice is Harrison’s, which they like to have available at all times.

About Phoenix Landing Foundation Asheville NC

About Our Rescue Group...

The Phoenix Landing Foundation (PL) is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. PL promotes and protects the welfare of parrots, especially those with an extensive lifespan. We provide for parrots of all types in need, and act as advocates for those without protection. Visit our website at for more information. We also sponsor great educational seminars! All are welcome (please do not bring your birds or other pets). Most of PL's classes are free, although of course we always welcome donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

.Most of our birds are being fostered in private homes in the MD, VA, NC, SC, and DC area. Sometimes, we have foster families bring their birds to these events for prospective adopters to meet them.

Our Adoption Process...

We require:
- An Adoption Application
- A brief in-Home Visit with you and your family (for birds larger than a cockatiel)
- Attendance at an Intro class (recommended for all, required for birds larger than a cockatiel). For large birds (macaws, cockatoos, amazons, greys, eclectus, etc.) we also require an Advanced class.
- An Adoption Fee (for birds larger than a cockatiel) -- adoption fees vary, larger birds have higher fees
