My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bandit is a 2 year old 44 lb male Shepherd Mix. He is a happy go lucky dog who is excited to see you, wants to be near you, play, and get pet. The nice thing is he settles down and will lay next to you on the floor as well. Bandit is a great looking male just waiting for a permanent home to call his own. He was a stray in Indiana that we found a permanent home back in September 2014. The owners returned him late July 2015 worried that he might bite their young daughters. What we can tell is that Bandit is young and enjoys playing so if you are playing with him or running around he wants to play and get in on the action. He has on occasion gotten mouthy but not in an aggressive or mean way since we've had him. The behavior he exhibits is excitement and he is just wanting to have fun. What we can tell you after a few weeks with Bandit is that he is a lovable dog and has a big heart. Just look at those pictures of this guy.

Bandit has quickly picked up the routine again. He explored the house his first day and has settled in nicely ever since. He also has a great personality and temperament. Bandit loves playing with a rope, balls and nylabones. Bandit has already learned the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. We are teaching him some manners and have him sit before we feed him. We have a Shepherd mix of our own and Bandit has had no issues either eating, playing or just being around him. So whether Bandit will be your only dog or will be an additional pet I'm sure he will do great in either situation.

Bandit is still young, at about 2 years old, and has gone through some basic obedience training and passed. He's know sit and shake for sure. We have been on a few walks with Bandit and he did ok on a leash and is just excited to be outside exploring. Bandit sleeps in our bedroom on the floor at night and does great. During the day we have given him free roam of the house, no crate required. He has earned this right after us having him for about 4 weeks now without any incidents. Bandit appears to be potty trained as well, but as with all new dogs we keep an eye on him and make sure he learns to go outside. Bandit hasn't had an accident in his crate or in the house since being returned to us. Basically all Bandit wants is to be loved, played with and pet. He really enjoys a good belly rub.

I would say Bandit has a medium to high level of energy since he's only 2 year old and would be best suited in a household with older children or no children since he does like to play and gets excited. He would benefit from being walked and/or played with since he is young. He certainly enjoys the outdoors and roaming around our backyard. This handsome guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. For more information contact Mark or Karla at 630-881-8286 or e-mail us at msr1015@yahoo.com. His adoption fee is $200.
