My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Whitney. She could see that Whitney's temperament was so kind and engaging that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized.

Whitney was immediately on her way to be vetted and then brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Whitney , at just 12 weeks old and approximately 12 lbs..(expected to be approximately 40 - 45 lbs when full-grown - such a great size to run with joy through the Colorado mountains)... is very loving and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. Whitney is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. She's also incredibly entertaining when she gets going. If she continues her current regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Whitney will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion.

Whitney is a gorgeous German Shepherd puppy....with just a bit of Husky in there...we think... the beautiful silver/white/black coloring in her coat speaks of the beauty of a healthy Shepherd/Husky baby. Her engaging and lovable demeanor is just who she is...Whitney just appears to be more analytical and intelligent than your average crazy puppy. If Whitney is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted girl who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Whitney. We also feel that it's very important that Whitney is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths with her family and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Whitney can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere that a wonderful and sweet puppy is allowed.

It may take a bit of time for Whitney's shelter hair to grow out into the shining and cotton-soft coat of her breeds. Periodic sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy. very beautiful and therefore less likely to shed.

Whitney will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday morning 8/1/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
