My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Bloodhound
DOB: 2010
Sex: Spayed Female
Weight: 90 pounds

There are times that Ruby is goofy and wants to play either with other dogs or with humans and then there are times where she acts like an old lady and just wants to lay around. She is a hound and can be stubborn but there are times that she surprises us and listens well. Since she is a hound, she really needs a fenced yard or else someone that can regularly walk this big strong girl.

Ruby gets along really well with other dogs except at feeding time. She will not share her food bowl and she likes to try to steal other dog’s food so we feed her in a separate room from other dogs. She also loves her kennel cab. It is a large one that she can stand up in and turn around in and she prefers to sleep in it at night and even runs into it whenever the humans get ready to go to work. Since we have to keep it for other large dogs that may need fostering, an adopter will want to purchase one for her.

At first, her eyes were very painful and she needed daily eye drops before her surgery. It was quite a struggle probably because she had so much pain. Now that she needs drops in only one eye every day AND that her eyes aren’t painful any longer, she is so good about sitting and letting us put the drops in.

If you like large goofy dogs, you will love Ruby. She does silly things but she isn’t destructive and then she has her mellow times so she doesn’t wear you out!

Our adoption fee for dogs that are not seniors is $220. All dogs are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines and heartworm.
Our adoption process includes an application, personal and vet reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs under any circumstances.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check our front page for the dates of our next Pet Parade. Appointments outside of Pet Parade to visit our dogs are only available after an application has been filled out, and processing has begun.
