My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Patch has been with us for a few weeks now, growing up in one of our foster homes. He currently weighs 5 pounds. His foster mom says Patch very sweet. He is also very calm. He is active and playful and loves to cuddle. He is adventurous but more of a follower than a leader, and turns back if he feels he is wandering out too far in the yard, unless he is with people. Our little girl carries him around the yard and he is quite happy to let her. She has even taken him down the slide with her a few times, and he wags his tail each time and sits next to her, waiting for her to position herself for their next ride. He follows her around the most, and is the first one to run to her when she enters the room. For nap time, he has no trouble in his kennel and frequently will join one of his siblings for a nap in the opened kennel, without prompting, when he is finished playing.

Our best guess is that Patch is a hound mix, but at this young of an age breed is hard to be certain. So since we don't know what breed or size he will grow into, only those willing to take pot luck need apply! Because of his young age, he will need to go to a home with a stay-at-home person who will continue with his training and socialization and keep him well exercised. Lots of activity and puppy school is a must. And, of course, lots of toys! A home with a child -- and a slide -- is a bonus!

Now that Patch is old enough, we've moved him to Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Rd. where you can meet him anytime during store hours 7 days a week. (847-251-6750 www.wilmettepetcenter.com). Although you may want to adopt him on the spot, please know that you will have to go through the application process first.

Patch's date of birth is approximately 5/30/15 and his adoption fee of $350 includes vet exam, distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, deworming, heartworm preventative, flea & tick preventative, microchip and neuter.
