My story

Looking for an all around nice dog? How about Red? He's a one year old mix that was rescued from the Lorain County Kennel so his history is not known. Red has been very playful, friendly and social since his arrival. He's a good boy that's relatively calm for a young dog and would make a loyal companion.

On September 29, 2015, Red was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. He is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institution. Prison Dogs are trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. He will spend approximately 12 weeks at the prison.

If you are interested in adopting this prison dog, adoption applications are now being accepted. This dog will be returning to Friendship probably sometime in December. All dogs return on an individual basis. You can find an app at friendshipapl.org under ADOPT-FIND A FRIEND. Hand deliver the app to Friendship or call if you live a distance away to see if you can fax one in. Please DO NOT email the app.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.
