My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carly
Female Shih Tzu
Age: Approx 3 years
Weight: 9#
Adoption fee: $250
Came into rescue July 14, 2015

Carly was found as a stray and turned in to the local animal shelter. She was developing a problem with her left eye and in tremendous pain. We took her to the vet and found a large ulcer on her eye that was ready to rupture. Her eye couldn't be saved but she was glad to finally be pain-free.

Carly has obviously been a house dog, even though she was severely matted when she came to us. She wasn't dirty, just matted. Carly understands and appreciates people and is very affectionate. She will be someone's lap baby. She watches other dogs but doesn't interact with them. It appears that she was an only dog in her previous life, and she would be happiest as an only dog in an adult home. Carly would be okay with kids over age 8 but not young children.

Because Carly was kept separate from other dogs as she healed from her spay and eye removal surgeries, we are still learning if she's completely housetrained. She enjoys being outside and rolling in the grass, and will trot after you wherever you go. It appears she's never been walked on a leash. She has just recently joined the other dogs in her foster home. She likes to investigate toys but hasn't played with any yet. Carly loves all food and is fed a grain-free diet because Shih Tzu often have grain allergies. She's happy and sweet and only wants a person or two to pet her and include her on the recliner. When her hair grows back out, she will be bright white with faint honey patches. Her teeth are beautiful.

As Carly develops her confidence with her new family, she will be your beautiful little princess. Just go ahead and buy her that little crown.
