My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB January 1, 2012
Barton is one of the sweetest cats his foster mom has ever known. He is very snuggly, and loves nothing more than to sleep on or cuddled up against his human. He is happy to be picked up and carried around the room or he will just tag along with you as you do things around the house.

Barton likes to chit chat, and will tell you stories about his day when you come home from work. He absolutely adores his foster sister, who is an energetic kitten, and they can often be found cuddling one second and play-wrestling the next. He has grown to love his two adult cat companions (reluctantly!), so with the proper introduction, he would be fine in a home with other cats.

Barton has epilepsy and requires phenobarbital pills every 12 hours to control his seizures. Adopters must be able to afford the cost of medication as well as regular vet check-ups to ensure that his phenobarbital levels remain constant and his seizures do not return. Adopters will also need to arrange for a sitter who can medicate Barton when they go away, even for only a day — missed doses can bring on seizures.

Barton also has a luxating patella (a bad knee), so he’s not as coordinated as most cats. His foster mom thinks it was damaged because of the seizures. His knee pain used to bother him so much that he would gnaw on his leg and foot, but since he’s been on medication, his knee has improved immensely and he rarely self-mutilates.

Yes, Barton has a few issues, but he is worth the effort! He is an absolute joy to have around. He’s charming, witty, handsome and funny—a real dreamboat — and you would be extremely lucky to have him in your home.

Thank you for welcoming a special needs cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.
