My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well hello there! My name is Harrison and I am an 11 year old, 6 pound Chihuahua. I came to be with the kind people at NBSAR because I was found as a stray in Harrison Township and nobody came to claim me. My rescuers told me that a shelter is no place to be for a distinguished gentleman such as myself...and I kinda agree!

I am a sweet, mellow guy. I can be a bit hesitant with new people but as long as you go slow and give me a chance to warm up to you, I am happy as a clam! I like to follow my foster family around the house and lay near them. I love snuggling in my dog bed. I don't like other doggies near my food bowl but I am perfectly fine with humans coming by! I like kids and enjoy kind pets and being talked to. I am doing great at potty training when I am kept on a schedule. I don't think my previous family taught me much but I am learning just the same!

I do have a couple medical things to be aware of. I have low tear production in one eye (don't worry, simple drops fix that!) and a heart murmur. My heart murmur means that I shouldn't go on 5 mile jogs but that's OK (I prefer my dog bed anyways!)

My ideal home would be a
- quiet, laid back home looking for a quiet laid-back dog.
- I do bark when my people crate me or first leave the house as I really don't like to be alone but I so someone home more than not would be great!
- fenced in or not fenced yard as I really don't like being outside alone!
- Kids are cool!
- Other doggies, yeah, I prefer not...I really do not like them near my food bowl
- But cats are fun to be around!

Do you think you could share me so that you can help me find my furever home? Oh wait, that is of course I am not the perfect little gentleman for you!

My adoption fee is $125 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food.

Do you think I might be the perfect addition to your family and want to meet me??

Please:
1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out an online adoption application and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today!

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pets veterinary history.

3.) Call your references and let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number as they will be speaking with a member of our team as a personal references.

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on it's vaccinations and heartworm preventative as well as spayed/neutered unless there is a documented medical reason on file with your veterinarian. Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past three years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and will fill out an adoption application right away, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family. Would you please help me by sharing my picture and information on your Facebook page, or e-mail to your friends and family members? I'm a great pup and I really deserve a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
