Cooper is one of WRS's very special pups. Cooper is about 5-6 years old and is looking for his forever family. Cooper would love to be an only dog; he loves his humans so much that he would rather not share their attention. Cooper is high energy and needs a home that can give him the structure and exercise he needs. Cooper loves to go swimming and running and is a very athletic boy. If you are interested in adopting Cooper, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Cooper is one of our very special weims up for adoption. Cooper is a handsome, devoted boy who LOVES his people and desperately wants to please them. Cooper would like to be an only dog in an adult home and needs someone who has previously owned a weimaraner and is familiar with their high energy requirements. If you think you can provide a forever home for Cooper, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Just in time for summer, Cooper is ready for a forever family who loves the water as much as he does! Cooper spent the weekend boating on the lake with his foster family and he had the best time ever! Cooper is a high energy, super smart boy with great house manners and lot of love to give. Cooper would do fantastic in a home as an only dog or with a submissive dog. He would also thrive in an adult only home. Most importantly, Cooper wants a family who is active and wants a dog to join in on their adventures. If interested in adopting Cooper, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Sweet, smart, handsome Cooper continues to do well in his foster home. Cooper is non-destructive, incredibly affectionate and loyal, and tries so hard to please his people. Cooper needs an active, structured home of his own, one where he can ideally be an only dog with someone who is experienced with the Weimaraner breed. He would also like a home where he's allowed to snuggle on the bed! If interested in adopting Cooper, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Weimaraners are known for their tremendous devotion to their families and, while not bred to be guard dogs, they can be protective of their people and are excellent "alert" dogs (they will definitely let you know when the UPS driver is delivering a package!). The video shows Cooper exhibiting his protective nature; there was an unknown invader to his home and he was doing his best to scare it off and protect his foster mom. Cooper is a good boy who is looking for his forever home; Cooper is about 5 years old and would do best in an adult home where he can be an only dog. Cooper promises to do his best to keep everyone safe from intruders! If interested in Cooper, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Cooper went to a foster home today! Cooper has been in boarding for several months because he's a more challenging, anxious pup; he means well and is very loving and affectionate, but can get easily overstimulated. The next two weeks will be very important as Cooper transitions into the home and figures out the routine and gets to know the other dogs in the home. We're hopeful and excited that Cooper has the opportunity with his new foster family! Good luck, Cooper!

Handsome Cooper, 4-5 years old, is now ready for his foster or forever home!  Cooper is still very high energy and needs a strong and active leader.  If you think you have the active lifestyle Cooper needs and want to add a member to your family, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Cooper is a very special weim who will soon be ready for his foster or forever home. Cooper is a very handsome boy who is about 4-5 years old. Cooper is very high energy and very driven; Cooper does best when he has a job and is actively focused on something. If you're looking for a weimaraner to just lounge on the couch with you, Cooper is NOT the dog for you. If you want to participate in a physical activity with your dog, then he's your guy! Cooper will need an experienced owner who is committed to making sure Cooper gets the exercise and stimulation that he needs. If interested in this beautiful pup, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Handsome Cooper is available for adoption! He is a smaller male Weim, about 5 years old, HW-, neutered, and up to date on all his shots. He does well with other dogs and needs a confident, experienced Weim family to call his own. Cooper has a dominant personality and would thrive in a home with structure, discipline, and focused exercise. He is a very smart boy who catches on quickly to routines.

About Weimaraner Rescue of the South

About Our Rescue Group...

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

Our Adoption Process...

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.
