My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!

My name is Gia.

I am a Brindle Great Dane, 18 months old, spayed female.

I have natural ears.

I am crate-trained and baby-gate trained.

I get along fabulously with children as young as 10 months old.

I like being around people.

I get along with my foster canines and foster feline.

I am submissive, laid back and active. Sometimes I feel a little nervous and I appreciate having my Thunder shirt on. I even like receiving a touch of Lavender Essential Oil.

I know the following commands: “Sit”, “Wait”, “Come”, “No pull”,
“Go to your room”, “Find your ball” and, “Do you want a treat?”

Here is what my foster momma has to say about me:

Gia has been such as fun addition to our pack.  She is packed with energy and affection. She loves her stuffed toys. Most of all, she LOVES to play ball!

It's the perfect trick to get her back on her leash from good exploration and run.

It took her about ten seconds to settle in with our three indoor/outdoor cats and a few days to adjust to our three dogs. She just wants to play and they are not used to her style of play.

She is awesome with my three children (ages 4, 2, and 10mo). Of course, she just wants to play with them too!

She is a quick learner and even listens to my children when they give her commands and directions. She loves to be with people of all ages.

She appreciates her thunder jacket and a little lavender oil when she needs some reassurance and comfort. It was wonderful during her transition to our home.  Now she rarely uses either the jacket nor the essential oil.

She has settled into her room (crate). She knows what it means to “go to her room” and she’ll happily go into her room.

She appreciates positive praise and rewards.  It's amazing how well she listens when a milk bone is offered. She takes them so politely, my children can even reward her!
She responds to several commands except for a true “Stay”. It’s a work in progress. She makes strides everyday and is a quick learner.

She walks well on her leash.  We have several acres of grass on the back lots of our farm. If she's been a good listener on the leash and comes when called, she'll sit down and get to run off leash. She learned her boundaries and has respected it.

If she goes out of eye sight (around a shed), I can call her name and she comes happily gallops back to me.

She has added spunk and energy back to our pack. All of my dogs have welcomed her and she nows her pack order.

She will eat out of your hand and doesn't mind if someone is interacting with her or her food while eating. However, she doesn’t trust any dogs while she’s eating so we’re working on that. She appreciates knowing no one will eat her food therefore, everyone is being fed separately.

She is a cuddle bug who would be a blessing to anyone.  She enjoys time with just us as well as the pack.
