My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Candy! I'm a sweet little girl who has been waiting my whole life to be someone's loved and adored companion. I used to be a mama beagle at a puppy mill where I lived in a cage in a barn. The day I had been waiting years for finally arrived and I was rescued!! I was pregnant when the MW BREW folks saved me and I had my final litter of babies in my new foster home. I have been taking good care of my babies and now it's my turn to find my own forever family.
I am a smaller beagle, around 20 pounds, and I am an unusual tri-color with gray, light tan and white with hazel eyes. This unique beagle color is called blue dilution. My tail, which was stained dark yellow from the conditions I was being kept, is slowly becoming white likes it's supposed to be. I also lost a ton of my fur from the stress and pregnancy hormones. Although still a little thin on my sides, it is growing back in nicely. Sadly, I had to have some bad teeth pulled, but now that's all healed up and I can eat regular dog food. I am starting to feel better and look better!!
I am a fast learner and I aim to please! I was potty trained in about a week and have learned some of my basic commands too. A firm no is all I need to change my ways. I am alright with being in a crate for short periods but I have earned my foster family's trust with run of the house. I can be a little nervous around new people but when I see you will be kind and gentle I will warm up fast. Foster mom says I need to work on my manners though because once I feel I like you I can be a little pushy about the attention but what can I say? I love those ear rubs so much!! I do bark from time to time, usually when I see someone outside I don't know. I have not had much practice walking on the leash but I'm starting to learn and I love to go exploring!
Loud noises are scary so a quieter home without small children would probably be best for me.
One more important thing to tell you about, I do have separation anxiety so I will need a canine buddy around. My beagle foster brother has been teaching me how be a house dog. I know he does not care for me much and that's ok. I give him his space but I bonded fast to another foster beagle that was here when I arrived. A meet and greet with your resident canine would be important. I am medium energy and not into the rough and tumble kind of play. I like to follow my foster mom around and it seems I prefer women but I like to think I fit in well with the whole family.
Are you that special someone that can continue to help me out of my shell while I learn about all the fun things in life?
