My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, 60626
AGE: About 6 Years (Estimated YOB: 2011)
KIDS: Yes
CATS: Yes
DOGS: Some
FIV: Positive

HISTORY:
Ponder was rescued by his original foster parents in the fall of 2015 when he came to their door wet, cold, and hungry. They took him in until LLR could find him a home. He was adopted in early 2016, but had to be returned about a year later because a child in the family developed severe allergies. He is currently being fostered by a new family.

ABOUT:
Ponder is your stereotypical big, orange, sweet, affectionate cat. On top of his great personality he is very handsome and loves to have his coat brushed. He has a playful side and likes to play with wand toys, the laser pointer, crinkle balls, and catnip mice. He previously lived in a home with children but he would do best in a home with more laid back kids. He probably would love to sit and have stories read to him! He’s not wild about being picked up, but he doesn’t complain if you keep it to a reasonable amount of time. He might not always be on your lap, but he loves attention and will often be within arm’s reach, just incase you wanted to reach over and pet him. He is a touch timid and will run and hide if he feels overwhelmed. His foster mom says he is THE sweetest orange kitty she has ever met.

Ponder is very gentle. He had to have a bath when he arrived at his foster home and while cats are not known for loving baths, Ponder didn’t use his teeth or claws to protest. He’s not a picky eater and has perfect litter box habits.

Ponder is a very sweet guy who is looking for some stability in his life. In his first adoptive home he lived with children and a puppy/young dog. The puppy was probably too much for him and he ended up spending a lot of his time in hiding. His foster home has a very calm, very cat savvy dog but Ponder has only met her a few times so far. At this point dogs seem to stress him out, so a home without dogs would be ideal, but we think he could possibly be ok in a home with a very calm dog who is completely uninterested in cats. We were told by Ponder’s first adoptive home that he was find with kitty house guests for a weekend. He is slowly being introduced to the resident cats in his foster home and he is very appreciative of very slow introductions. He is not reactive, but when he feels overwhelmed he runs and hides under the bed. If he were adopted to a home with cats it would be best if they were calm, social, friendly cats. Slow introductions to other animals are a must for Ponder, to avoid unnecessarily stressing him out. Ponder’s foster mom thinks that he would be perfectly content and happy to be an only pet. He would probably eat up being the sole animal recipient of his human’s attention.
