My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I would have died that cold January morning, if not for the firemen who stopped to help me out of the ditch 7 months ago, when I was just a couple months old. I remember I didn’t sleep well the night before, because I had found a new place to call home under some bushes. I wasn’t familiar with the area, so every sound I heard made me flinch. The sun was beginning to come up, still groggy from lack of sleep, my tummy roaring, I forced myself to get up and search for something to eat. As I ventured out from my wooded area, my nose led me to something near the side of the road. Trying to focus on finding something edible, I didn’t hear or see the big red shiny truck coming around the bend till it was too late. PAIN shot through my body as I was tossed in the air and landed in a ditch. The sky went black, loud ringing in my head, I cried out in agony. Oh God, please help me. I could sense humans around me and once the ringing stopped I could hear them say to me, “Hey buddy, you’re going to be okay”. My vision was blurry as they lifted me up and into the big red shiny truck. They took me to the vet, where I was examined. It was determined that my right eye sustained trauma from the accident. I had some scrapes and bruises; no broken bones, thank the good Lord! The rescue folks were called to see if they could take me and they did. My name is Teddy; I’m 9 months old and weigh a healthy 40 pounds and very grateful to be here today! I know that things happen for a reason, and if I didn’t have a run in (so to speak) with the firemen that day and things working out the way they did; I might not have made it on my own. Therefore, I know that tomorrow is not promised so, I make the most of each and every day that I am blessed with. I have accomplished a lot of things since being in foster care. My foster family likes to travel, so I have had the opportunity to go to a few places. I’m great in the car, hotels, visiting other places and meeting new people. I’m a mild mannered, easy going guy who does well at home and never bothers anything that’s not meant for me. I enjoy going for walks and I like playing with other canines. I’m a smart guy too; I graduated from Karen’s K9 Obedience Class in Pascagoula, MS June 2015. I’m affectionate and a lover of humans of all ages, even turtles who come to visit in the yard! I’m ready to make a life-time of memories with a family of my own.
