Baxter's Story...
Baxter was brought to ACHA by his previous owners. Baxter was given to them as a gift, from a friend who found him abandoned in a trash can (when he was just a newborn). The family had Baxter for the complete 8 months. But as time progressed, they realized they did not have the money or time this pup needs. He does great with children both big and small - He came from a home with triplet 2 yr old girls who adored him. He does have a moderate prey-drive, so cats and other small animals are not recommended. He is in need of some training, he was not given the time or energy he deserves. We have been working on the basics (sit, stay etc.) and have had quite a bit of success. He will need an ACTIVE family, someone who can keep his mind stimulated and his body busy. Baxter starts off timid and mildly fearful but warms up quickly. He is still an amazingly sweet boy who would make a great "ranch dog" or "family dog". Baxter is a "working breed" and as such, requires time, patience, exercise, distractions, a large yard and above all LOVE! The adoption fee for this handsome pup is $125.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Baxter, a Phoenix Black Mouth Cur/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Black Mouth Cur/Labrador Retriever for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Black Mouth Cur/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Black Mouth Cur/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Black Mouth Cur/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
