We, at FFGDR, are talking to you. You…yes, Illinoisans, we’re talking to you. We need more volunteers from the whole state of Illinois.

We, as volunteers of the Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue (FFGDR), know you are our wonderful, potential FFGDR volunteers.

We know your daily life with work and family tends to take over at times and give you a very little free time to stop and take a breath. If we could have it our way, we’d provide you a very loving Great Dane laying or sitting next to you, to comfort you and to be a good companion to you.

Unfortunately, such loving Great Danes are needing your help first. They are in dire need of being surrendered, to be rescued from neglect, abuse and/or needing medical help.

We, at FFGDR, know every one of you out there has some type of talent, or degree, or an experience in something. Or, you are looking for an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience.

It might be something in which you use every day or maybe you never have at all, but you've been thinking about doing this.

FFGDR has been vastly growing (now serving the states of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and parts of Wisconsin) and we are in dire need of more volunteers.

We need someone to help with any of the following:

Fostering (Great Dane puppies and/or adults)
Transport (picking up and delivering Great Danes)
Seeking small and big grants
Fundraising Events
Educational Events (i.e. talking to school children, etc)
Public Relations
Social Medias
Promotional Events
and other needs (i.e. websites, special fun events, etc)

While we need volunteers of any titles and in all four states, there is one thing we need the most: Foster Homes

Because we are sorely lacking in Foster Homes, it is heart-breaking that we’ve had no choice but to turn away new surrenders. If you would step in and provide your home to new Great Dane surrenders, please know that the average stay of foster dogs is about 3 weeks. Without a doubt, there will always be more incoming surrenders, waiting to be rescued.

Please, please, please become our foster parents! At the same time, you are certainly welcome to help us out in other area of interests within the FFGDR.

FFGDR volunteers are very flexible to your needs and wants.

About Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue - Illinois

About Our Rescue Group...

Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue (FFGDR) was founded by a small group of people dedicated to the great dane breed. Our goal is to help neglected, abandoned, and abused great danes find their forever homes while educating the public. We believe that every animal deserves a forever family to love them unconditionally for the rest of their lives.

We are a small start up group with many years of experience with great danes and rescue. Our collective experience with Dane rescue will allow us to continue our desire to make an impact on the lives of the great danes we can take in and help. Currently, we accept surrenders from families and shelters and adopt to forever homes in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and, parts of Wisconsin. With the help of our supporters, we hope to eventually grow our group, spread our message, and rescue great danes.

FFGDR specializes in great danes. We accept great danes of all ages and from all types of situations. We are not a shelter, our dogs live in foster homes as part of a family until their medical and emotional needs have been met and they are ready for their forever homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We host meet and greets or booths every weekend at stores such as Pet Supplies Plus, the Indy Pet Expo, and Moochie and Co. Our schedule is updated every month on our website and on our Facebook group page.

Our Adoption Process...

We require everyone to complete an adoption application and submit a $25 application fee. Once we review the application and find it to be complete, we will call their references. They must submit 3 personal references and their veterinary reference. If they pass the reference check, we will then set up a home check with them. Once the home check is complete, they then get a phone call from the adoption coordinator to speak about a dog or two that we have in mind for them. If all is acceptable, they get to speak with the foster home at that point and schedule a time to adopt.
